Local Participant Opportunities

These events give our participants the opportunity to meet new people, play some golf and broaden their horizons to new heights!

Participants are selected, awarded, and/or earn their way into these opportunities for growth.

Texas Cup

The Texas Cup is an event designed to bring the best golfers in all the Texas First Tee Chapters together in one spot to claim the spot of “Best Golfing Texas Chapter”! It’s a 36 hole stroke-play competition. High school tournament format – 5 players from each chapter, best 4 scores per day are kept, drop the highest score, team with the best total score after two days wins the event. Players will be nominated by the Coaches at their respective location.

I-45 Cup

12 Participants earn their way on the First Tee – Greater Houston Team in a Ryder Cup style competition against First Tee – Fort Worth. This is an annual 2-day event that takes place the first weekend of November. Every even year, it will be hosted by First Tee – Fort Worth and every odd year, it will be hosted by First Tee – Greater Houston.

Texas First Tee Hickory Championship

Each Texas First Tee chapter may enter four players.  From those four players, the chapter will identify two two-person teams who will play in a two-person scramble. The combined gross score of a Chapter’s two two-person teams will be the team’s tournament score. Here is the catch, participants MUST ONLY USE HICKORY GOLF CLUBS while playing in this tournament. This competition is held annually in Austin, TX.

First Tee – Greater New Orleans National Tournament

First Tee – Greater New Orleans host 72 First Tee participants around the country in New Orleans every December for a two day, 36 hole stroke-play tournament, where participants 14+ will compete for both individual and team awards. Participants will also have an opportunity to attend the New Orleans’ College Football Bowl game and many other local activities while in Louisiana!

 

The Greenwood Cup

The Greenwood Cup is a invitation only, highly competitive junior golf tournament that attracts accomplished players from across the nation. All participants must be under 19 years of age and have not graduated from high school and conform to the USGA Rules of Amateur Status. Two rounds of four-ball stroke play. The field is limited to 50 two-person teams. There are two divisions: a girls’ division and a boys’ division.
